When I went to BlogOn back in May I spotted a pretty cool Harry Potter Hogwarts Letter Writing Set at the Paladone stand and I knew that it would be the perfect letter to print Finn’s birthday invite on. I found a Harry Potter style font to download for free online and with a little help of Finn himself we decided on what he wanted to be included. It might have a little bit of an inconvential non Potter related request at the end but it was just how he liked it and thats what was important!
Once his 5 mates have been invited it was onto the party bags next. Thanks to good old Pinterest I decided to try and make my very own DIY pencil wands which where used to be part of the treasure hunt reward alongside a HP notebook. Making the wands was pretty simple one thing I would do differently next time is not buy the cheapest pencils around (which where a 10pck medium size Pencil bundle for £2.68 on eBay) because they turned out to be rubbish to sharpen and the tip broke quite easily)!
Another eBay purchase was the 10pck of gold paper bags for £3.86 where I let Finn draw the potter scar on with a black Sharpie. I also decided to venture out on trying the app Ali Express to purchase some bits for the party and one of those was a 25pck of Harry Potter Stickers for £1.51. I printed the wand motion flyers on A5 on thick paper and another A5 page with a character word search. I found the Lego style sticker tape for £1 each in the sale and cut it into 2 so I had enough for the 6 bags. Alongside the £2.99 Harry Potter notebook with the Hogwarts crest which I picked up from ALDI I also got each of the boys a £1.99 HP pencil topper blind bag. I wanted to make the bags special and a little bit different to the normal ones with cheap pocket money toys which break after 5 minutes!
To start with I actually wanted to do no party bag at all because I found these super cool Harry Potter Pj’s from Asda for £5 each and I was pretty chuffed after hunting 6 pairs in 4 different Asda’s. Matching PJ’s for a sleepover party seemed liked a pretty cool idea right? So in the end the boys got both the PJ’s and a party bag (plus some cake of course) to take home and they all looked pretty happy leaving ours!
What was the best party bag item your child ever received after a party? I would love to hear some more ideas because there are plenty of more parties for me to throw over the next 8 years at least!

Disclaimer: I have been kindly gifted the Harry Potter Hogwarts Writing Set by Paladone at BlogOn but they did not ask me to write about it and all thoughts and opinion are my own!
