There are two types of people when it comes to gardening there are those who love replanting, watering and caring for their garden and those who are born without a green thumb, I am most defiantly in the later category and other than tidying up the kids toys into the shed in the evenings or very occasionally having the urge to cut the grass with the lawnmower our garden hasn’t been touch for the last 12 months we lived there. On top of that we also inherited a rather old and rotten wooden garden furniture set and the previous owner of our house also left us with quite a few plant pots who just aren’t to my liking. So when my parents told us they coming over to celebrate Finn’s Communion with us I asked them for their expertise and help regarding transforming our garden and they happily agreed to help us!
Within a couple of days my dad removed the second rather large Yukka plant in our flowerbed (Mr. C. already did a start with getting rid of the first one the week before) and we moved all the nice looking plants from the pots to the flowerbed and got rid of the old rather tired looking trees and plants in the pots and only kept a few nice ones who were easy for me to maintain with minimal effort of watering them!
We also borrowed a Karcher Pressure Washer and my dad not only cleaned both sides of the fences he also ended up doing the paths in the garden as well as the roof and drains of our extension! Here are some before and after shoots where you can really see the difference:

My Dad also helped me add the finishing touches into Mr. C.’s Music Shed with hanging up his Guitars as well as some pictures and a rule sign and I decorated the outside of the shed with some colourful outdoor lanterns:
To top it all off we decided to finally make that trip to the shops to look for potential new garden furniture to replace our inherited tired looking one! Over the last couple of months we looked online and it became clear that I was loving the look of Rattan or Metal whilst Mr. C.’s tendency was lying more for another wooden set. My parents went to B&Q the other day and found a few potentials which they took pictures off so we decided to all head there together and whilst Molly-May decided to climb into the Hot Tub Model (thankfully not filled!) we came across a lovely looking set and despite looking at 3 other wooden sets we decided this is the one for us. Funny enough it isn’t wood at all and I let Mr. C. take the reins and just like when we where hunting for Sofas he surprised me with a choice whom I absolutely love too! We also got a new freestanding Parasol with our south-facing garden attracting the sun all day long a spot of shade is most certainly appreciated! Sadly the Set wasn’t ready to be delivered in time for Finn’s Holy Communion celebrations but it arrived a couple of days after and is fitting rather nicely on our patio don’t you think?
Outside the Extension is part of the patio which we normally never use but with the Summer and the sunshine arriving the pool is out frequently now for the children so we decided to put some fake grass down and use it as their pool area they even got their very own little umbrella:
We decided to keep one of the benches from our old wooden garden furniture set and my Dad kindly sanded it down nicely and we used the bench pillows on top of it for double comfort:
I am looking forward to having lots of Family and Friends over to show off our new garden and have BBQ’s, Pool Fun and some good times this summer!
