We have been in our very own family house for 12 months now times has gone so fast! When we moved in we had all these visions of what we want to do in each room but the reality is that it’s just not going to happen overnight! As much as I would love to have a picture perfect newly decorated house we just don’t have the time or money to make it happen that quickly. But one thing we wanted to sort first was the kid’s bedroom and 1 out of 2 is finally done. I know there are lots of Pinterest perfect colour coordinated little girls bedrooms floating about in the web but I knew as much as I would love that it’s not going to happen! So Molly-May’s new room is all about her favourite things, her favourite colours and a cosy feel good place for her to play, relax and have the sweetest dreams!
Before you enter her room I have attached her name in wooden fairytale letters on her bedroom door. I bought them in a little independent toy shop in Chesham/Buckinghamshire where she had her hearing test done when she was a couple of days old. Finn has exactly the same just in blue who were also bought in the same shop for the same occasion:
When the house was still council property Molly-May’s bedroom was split in 2 and this corner use to be the tiny box room/study. It is perfect for her huge wooden dolls house and her open dressing up wardrobe and I also added Finn’s old lampshade which is made out of felt clouds and planes! The shelving with all her dolls on the left of the house is from Argos as well as the My Little Pony Canvas Boxes and the pink elephant print canvas basket which houses all her fancy dress accessories is from TK Maxx:
Here is the front view of the open fancy dress wardrobe which I repainted white for her. It’s another preloved bargain from a local Facebook Selling site which was only 5£:
I recently picked up this Great Little Trading Toy Box up from eBay which was a total bargain at 22£ and it is filled with some of her soft toys and some books:
When we first moved into this house Molly-May had a single bed but it became clear very quickly that we would be using her room as a guest room when friends and family are coming to visit so I picked up this preloved wooden double bed and she rather enjoys star fishing each night! The rainbow reflective light is from the window foil I used so we could get rid of the net curtains but she still has some privacy:
This soft Ottoman is my absolute favourite piece in her bedroom I spotted it over 5 months ago in our local TK Maxx but didn’t wanted to fork out 45£ so I patently waited and after it being reduced twice I manage to pick it up for 29£ and it now houses all her small soft toys inside it:
On the left side of her room when you enter it is an over the stairs cupboard which is filled with lots of things for Finn’s bedroom as well as bedding, spare duvet and lots of other crap! and the bigger build in wardrobe has all of Finn’s and Molly-May’s clothes as well as a special birthday present cupboard on the top! I picked up the sling bookcase from Argos and it fits perfectly under the cupboard. The lampshade which is made out of lots of stars was another eBay find and the “magic trees’ design blackout curtains are from John Lewis:
I am hoping to add some wall stickers for her sloped roof soon but I haven’t decided yet what kind of design I want. I feel like because I didn’t go for a certain theme or colour scheme it will last her longer and it will be easier to add more touches when she is getting older. For now it is very unicorn oriented with unicorn dog bedding, unicorn pillow and lots of her favourite unicorn soft toys on the bed and a splash of pink here and there because its her favourite colour. I am debating on painting her cupboards white and add some pink knobs to it but that’s a job for another time although I quite like the contrast of the bed and the cupboards being wooden alongside the white and pink in the room.

Love her room. It’s massive. Chloe is also obsessed with unicorns and my little pony at the moment.
I have yet to move her dolls house into her room. She doesn’t play with it in the play room at all.
