At the beginning of the half term holiday we were invited to the opening of the brand new Mighty Claws Adventure Golf Course in Bournemouth which did not only bring out excitement in my 2 dino mad children but also to Mr. C. who shares the kids enthusiasm and as much as he like to call himself a “golfer” crazy golf is far more fun for him even though his son is pretty good in beating him!
Upon arrival to the car park of the Playgolf course in Riverside Avenue in Christchurch the impressive Sweet Claw Valley was unmissable and the kids squealed with excitement when the spotted the huge volcano, a 5 meter high waterfall ash wells as some pretty awesome large scale animatronic dinosaurs!
The brainchild of Allan Saud, owner of the Playgolf course, the 18-hole Mighty Claws Adventure Golf is dinosaur-themed “in line with Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and the imaginings of almost every child in the land,” said Mr Saud.
Aimed at children from 3 – 14 and their parents, the course itself is home to various life-like animatronic dinosaurs. These are the villains of the course – based on characters of the “invasion of the Iron Jaws”, a children’s book chronicling the first episode in the adventures of a small group of lovable dinosaurs from Sweet Claw Valley, who can also be found on the course along the way. The Sweet Claws must undertake a series of fearsome adventures in order to free their valley from the evil Iron Jaws.
All of us love a good game of crazy gold and have been frequent visitors to our old local dinosaur mini golf course but after playing in the Sweet Claw Valley you cannot compare the two because this course wins hands down with all the special little features and the amazingly real looking animatronic dinosaurs we have defiantly found our new favourite place to go to get all competitive with those golf clubs!
If your children are as mad into dinosaurs then mine are I cannot recommend this course enough and I also have to tell you that you simply must head over to their website to watch the little adorable video clip from the residence of the Valley I think it makes it even more an adventure and you can read the story online or even pick up a hard copy of the “Invasion of the Iron Jaws” story at the till for £7.99 which makes a great bedtime story.
Here are some pictures of the kids enjoying themselves on the course and with the dinosaurs, Finn in particular loved the fact that there where fishing nets in the areas which had water in between the start and finish of the hole:
The kids got really stuck into playing the game. You can pick up a pen and a scoresheet to go around the course with. We took around 45 minutes to complete the game but I think on busier days you might take around an hour. On each hole there is a little plaque which suggests/shows you the best way to get the ball into the hole. And last but not least I thought I give you a clue who won our family game:
We finished off our crazy golf fun with some nice cold drinks and a delicious wood fire pizza freshly made by the chef from The Kitchen Club which is just opposite the course overlooking the Playgolf area.
Before we headed back home we had a cheeky little dance (or 2) with our new friend Naughty Toby the Dinosaur who came to visit for this special occasion:
The Mighty Claws Adventure Golf is open all year round (except Christmas Day) from 9am – 9:30pm everyday with the last round being 45 minutes prior to closing and costs £6 for kids, 9£ for adults and £25 for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids or 1 adult 3 kids) or if you fancy a round of crazy golf childfree you can get an adult group ticket (4 people) for £30.
You can find out more info at the Mighty Claws website, find them on Facebook or stay up to date with news and information on their Twitter and Instagram page.
We cannot wait to return and have another fun and adventures round at Sweet Claw Valley and maybe even see the volcano erupt!
