A New Room for Molly-May

Family Life Home & DIY Molly-May

I wanted to write this post for ages but somehow it sat here in the draft box for ages. When we moved into our rented 3 bed house 18 month ago we also started to stop bed sharing with Molly-May who just turned 2 at that time so I wanted to make her a special room out of the little box room for her to enjoy and love going to bed all by herself (we are still working on that part most evenings either Mummy or Daddy having a cuddle with her to fall asleep!). We wanted to get her a single bed for that exact reason and that we can use it for the occasional guest if needed and I manage to get this stunning bed with a heart inside the headboard for only 30£ off a local selling site. She absolutely adores My Little Pony so I was delighted when I received the go ahead of our landlady to put up some wall sticker decal to make it all pretty. I am still not a huge pink fan so I decided to delicately introduce the room with it but I didn’t want to make it to overbearing. Next to some pink and purple tubs full of toys we also have some IKEA Vessla storage crates (not pictured) for the end of her bed and the 4 box IKEA Kallax unit is such a practical furniture to add some well needed storage space for Molly-May’s fancy dress collection. Inside the cubes is a framed print with all of MM’s birth details I received when she was born from 2 lovely fellow Nanny friends, a row full of her favourite books as well as an adorable little M Pillow who was handmade by my brother’s girlfriend for her christening and above the unit I put my hear frame with pictures of her and her special people like her Great Nan, my godparents, her godparents and of course her beloved Oma & Opa:

My 3 favourite things in her room have to be the personalised Name Letters I bought her from a little toy/gift shop in Chalfont’s St. Peters where we headed a week after she was born for her hearing test. As well as the gorgeous “Magic Trees” curtains from John Lewis (another 2. hand finds thanks to a blogger friend who revamped her daughter’s room and sold them to me) and my absolute bargain star lamp from eBay  for 5£ which just makes her little room complete. Its amazing what you can do in such a small space! Molly-May adores her own little space so much that she is more than happy to jump in ever night to have a lovely sleep dreaming of unicorns and rainbows and lots of magical things!

Do you have a favourite piece in your little ones room too? I would love to hear what it is!

It’s a lovely room. I haven’t decorated the kids rooms just yet Matthews one used to have a car theme and chloes a Minnie mouse in the old house. I’m doing it different this time.

Aww I love the lamp shade!!! In our old house, my girls had a gorgeous knitted-style lamp shade. It was my favourite thing and a bargain too (if I remember rightly). We left it behind by accident on the day of our move and I actually cried 🙁
