1. Guest dropping out very last minute!
Sadly this is something which happens at every wedding. Mostly a months, a few weeks or in my case ON the day itself so your table plan won’t be looking how you imagined it. I had 6 people dropping out leaving my 10 people table down to 4 so I decided to scrap that table all together and moved 2 couples onto spare places on 2 different tables. What I can recommend you is don’t print out your table plan cards until a day before! I had mine made by the lovely Michelle from New Beginnings – Celebration Stationery who actually resend me 2 more parcels with new table plan cards and new place cards in the end! (you can check out her amazing work over on my Our Big Fat Bavarian Wedding – Flowers & Decor post).

5. Take some Time Out with your new Husband!
Even if its just 5 minutes, take him outside and let it all sink in! This is another thing we somehow didn’t find time too. But nonetheless we had a amazing day and we reflected when we went on our mini honeymoon instead.
6. Ask for Help!
I decorated the Hall for 7 hours the day before the wedding and although I did have help from about 7 people I had so many friends come up to me afterwards saying they would have loved to help us but didn’t wanted to bother me, seeing how stressed out I was. So I guess I should have ask for more help and everything would have been a tad easier and more relaxed. So call in the troops to help you decorate and do last minutes bits the last few days before your big day!
7. Who needs favours??
From early on whilst planning our big day I decided to scrap the favours (well tell a lie, actually I did wanted to fill a basket with little organza bags filled with a memory stick and a little note so guests could take our wedding play list home with them upload it and put their pictures of our day onto it and send it back to us). I am pretty happy that I didn’t do that after all because it saved me time, money and guess what everybody I have talked to after the wedding told me that they didn’t even noticed that there weren’t any favours. Its not really a common thing to do in Germany anyway. I think you are giving your guest the best present ever with having them here for your big day and celebrating your marriage and your love for each other!
I hope those tips can help some future brides! Happy Wedding Planning!
From a very tired but happy Bride!
