Making Lunch more fun with our new Yumbox!

Children Food & Drinks Reviews
Finn has always been a fussy eater and we where hoping with him starting school and eating school dinners he might get better. Unfortunately his school hasn’t finished building the new Kitchen so for the past 9 month it was cold dinners at school for him. I still wanted him to have those but overtime he complaint that all of his friends have lunch boxes with them “home lunch” as he calls it so we started to make him home lunch 2-3 times a week.
Every Mum has been there standing in front of the supermarket isle and debate which lunchbox to go for the cheap one? the colourful one? One with compartments like a bento box? Or ones with Character on?Well let me tell you this nothing really compares to the fantastic Yumbox!

I have been there – done that:

1. The favourite Character Lunchbox who hasn’t bought one for their little one after loads of pledging from there side! It might look pretty but its also pretty useless. The lid comes off way too easy on the hinges & it doesn’t shut secure enough.
2. And then we have the department plastic box unfortunately i am yet to find one in-between too small (as above) and too large!!
3. Tupperware – huge thing over in my home country Germany and yes i admit it i have held Tupperware Party’s before and my cupboard is full off them but most of their boxes have weird shapes so are a no go to use as a lunch box.

So what makes the Yumbox the best?

It has a leak proof single lid, it seals all food wells individually (alone this is heaven to my ears! no more spilled yogurt all over the sausages)!

Its brilliant for Balance & Portion Control its pre-portioned illustrated (and removable) tray guides you to pack a healthy and hassle-free lunch.

The Classic Yumbox tray is divided into five ½ cup portions of the key food groups: Fruit, Vegetable, Grains, Protein, Dairy.  Plus a small well for a dip or a treat.

Think Green! Reuse, Reduce and Save! Yumbox saves you money by eliminating the need for plastic bags, multiple containers, clingfilm and snack packs. Pack a waste free lunch. All materials used in production are food safe, BPA-free and phthalates-free.

Its Child friendly! Yumbox is sturdy and compact with an easy-open latch and it fits neatly into standard size thermal lunch bags.

What we thought about our new Yumbox V3 in Pomme Green!

No more leeks! And we did the test, without any promoting Finn likes to throw his Lunch Bag around in the air on the way to school and instead of me telling him that he will spill his home lunch i left him to it and we opened it in the classroom (to Finns delight because he was so exited to show his Teacher his brand-new Yumbox)It was all still in the same compartments as they where put in!
Success!
I does weight lightly more then our old (useless) Lunchboxes but that can be looked over easily due to its great features. It washes up really well and the colour is very vibrant.
I cant find a fault for this lunch box and even though we won’t be winning any awards for best bento style lunch anytime soon i couldn’t help myself to order some bento accessories to make some themed lunch for Finn as a surprise. And so far he hasn’t had a day where the Yumbox was returned with food still inside it! That alone shows me that it works!

Here are some of our efforts so far ,keep your eyes out on my Instagram for more Yumbox fun to come:

Oh and this was Mr. C.’s first attempt he even hacked something to make the cracker come out easier:

Honestly, i am jealous! I want one for myself and i might even treat myself to the Yumbox Panino which is Yumbox’s Version for bigger appetites it has exactly the same features as mentioned
above but it consists of 4 compartments.

Our Yumbox V3 retails for 24.95£ which might sound expensive but have you ever thought off how much you have actually spend on boxes who didn’t work and now sit unloved in your cupboard and a Yumbox is a investment because no child will get tired off it, unlike Dusty up there who is already replaced with the Octonauts in our Household!

To check out all the Yumboxes head over to their website. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter and most importantly Instagram where you can find so much inspiration when it comes to filling your new Lunchbox.

Disclaimer: I have been send the Yumbox V3 for reviewing purposes, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.
