Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer Review & Giveaway

Baby Giveaway Household & Health Reviews

In October we had a lovely afternoon with Dr. Ranj and Braun for the Launch of their new Thermometer Range and we where lucky enough to receive one of the 2 new models in our goodies bag! With Molly-May still a baby and and us already having battles when i wanted to use our old model of the Braun Thermoscan in her ear I was eager to try out the new No Touch + forehead Thermometer.

Here is a little run down of its functions:

  • No touch mode & touch mode

    Colour coded display
    Back light for nighttime reading
Breakthrough technology: ultra-sensitive sensor and optical system, with clinically proven accuracy
    Silent mode for sleeping baby
Fast, gentle and easy to use

    Positioning guidance system

What we thought of the new Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer:

I love the fact that i can take Molly-May’s temperature whilst she is asleep without even having to disturb her and i still get a very accurate reading! And with it being switched to silent mode it won’t give out any beeping to wake her up either! You cant get a inaccurate reading because the Braun Thermometer will only work if the sensor is close enough (without touching t.he skin) The display is a nice size and the colour coded reading makes it very easy to understand the level of her temperature. With our old Thermoscan i always had to buy throwaway caps and it was rather annoying when you run out of the because the Thermometer didn’t work without it so jam glad the new Non Touch + Forehead model doesn’t need any extras!

I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this brilliant and in my option essential piece of kit for your first aid box to any new parents out there to give you a piece of mind when your little one is poorly.

And here are Dr. Ranj Top Tips to survive this years cold and flu season:

Check
1) Make sure you know how to check temperature accurately and get your child used to it too.  Making it into a fun game can make the process easier, especially if they’re not feeling well.  Likewise, if your child gets upset when having their temperature checked, think about using a ‘no-touch’ thermometer.  You can always back it up with a ‘touch’ reading for reassurance.
Hydration
2) Babies will often feed more when they are hot, both for comfort and to stay hydrated.  You may find that they take less feed each time, but more often.
3) For children that have been weaned, offer them cool drinks, jelly or ice-lollies when they are bothered by fever.  This is a great way to help them feel more comfortable and keep them hydrated.
Keeping cool
4) Babies primarily lose heat through their heads, so when they are hot make sure their head is uncovered.
5) Older children will lose heat through sweating and so ensure they have regular drinks when they have a fever, to keep them hydrated.
6) Make sure that the room your child is in is a normal temperature (around 18-21 degrees centigrade), so turn down the heating or open some windows.  However, it shouldn’t be so cold that it is uncomfortable.
7) Do not use tepid sponging to cool your child down. Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t that effective and may actually be counter-productive.
Medication
8) There are medicines that can help to reduce your child’s temperature, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen.  Make sure you always follow the dosage instructions, or check with a health care professional if you are unsure.
Medical opinion
9) Know when to seek further help. You should keep a close eye on your child when the thermometer reads ‘elevated’ (yellow), and seek medical advice if it reads ‘high’ (red), or if they have any other worrying signs (such as a rash, floppiness, breathing difficulties, fits or signs of dehydration).
10) Any child with a fever that lasts more than 5 days or has other worrying signs of illness should be checked by a health care professional.
You can purchase the No touch + forehead thermometer (NTF3000) at a RRP of £52.99 and is available from Asda, Boots and all good baby specialist retailers.Braun was kind enough to let me run a competition so one of my lovely readers can win a Braun Thermometer for themselves all you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter form below.

The competition is open to UK Residents only and will close at 11.59pm on the 16th of December 2014.

GOOD LUCK!

Disclaimer: I have been given the Braun Non Touch + Forehead Thermometer as part of my Goodies Bag and  for reviewing purposes, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.

Mine would be to keep track of their temperature – it can change pretty quickly! Also make sure they aren't dressed with too much clothes!

A bath usually works wonders in bringing a temperature down

Have a cool wet flannel at hand to dab on the forehead and try to get your child to sip water or juice to keep hydrated. Calpol works to help bring a high temp down and also dress them in cool cotton – like a vest and pants.
