For Finns 4th Birthday we decided to give him a new room. We live in a 3 bedroom ground floor flat and we have 2 double and 1 single bedrooms. The single bed room was a great size for Finns first nursery all the way through toddler hood but now that he’s 4 and with Molly-May eventually going in her own room too it was only fair to make our guestroom into a big boys paradise and hopefully move some of his toys out of the living room to make it look less play more living (room) again!
Finns Cousin Kerry painted the room in white and glossed the skirting boards on the floor and wall to give it a fresh new look and get rid of the blue feature wall.
In my previous 2 Nanny jobs both girls I looked after had a mid sleeper bed and Finn loved climbing up and playing underneath it so our first purchase was this preloved Stompa Midsleeper Bed. I wanted wood and proper stairs because once he’s pull up free in the night and gets up to go to toilet he has something secure to get down.
I decided not to have a certain theme (for now) but little touches like his cloud and his planes lampshade (which i picked up from a selling site for 3£!!) and the curtains are all about planes, cars, trucks and helicopters which are all his favourites.
We might get him a big black air plane wall sticker for above his bed for Christmas and i am still debating if i should make him a curtain underneath his mid sleeper bed so he can have a little play den.
He absolutely loves his new room and its nice to have a bit more space back in the living room because all his toys are now in his room. But the no toy front room is slowly been taken over by loads of babies toys again!
Our next project is the Nursery which is currently used as a “chuck it all in and close the door” room!!
Wish me luck!!
