Bank Holiday Fun at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre

Days Out Family Life Travel

On Bank Holiday Monday, with the Sun shining we decided to visit the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. Mr. C. and Finnster already went there last month and came back telling me all about the old trains and tubes and the miniature railway so I was looking forward to go there with the boys this time.

On the day we visited the car park was full of old Double Decker Buses for the 29th Annual Bus Rally, but Finns first stop brought him to his beloved train track, in the Visitors Centre are 4 train tables full of train tracks and Thomas features who wouldn’t love to have a play there?
Then it was time to board the Steam Train at “Quainton Road” Train station build to represent a true 1980´s Station. He loved choosing a cabin and was pointing out of the window to show Daddy where the big steam cloud is.
Next Stop was the Miniature Railway, after checking out the Model Trains on the lovely decorated platform (we even spotted scooby doo waiting for a train) it was off to buy his very own ticket for the Little Train Ride.

Check out what Mummy spotted hiding behind a carriage! Blue Wheels?? That can mean only one thing. Mr. C. and Finnster went off to investigate and WOW check that out, we found Thomas!! although Finn wasn’t very impressed with the fact that Thomas Face was “sleeping” in the shed.
History is all around, if it is on the rails leading up to some old trains or on the walls of the Visitors Centre and Refreshment Rooms everywhere you looked you could see old vintage signs.

My Highlight of the Day!
I loved all the vintage touches such as the old suitcases in the Visitor Centre (which use to be the old Oxford Rewley Road Station) but I was very happy to have captured this lovely couple who where dressed in 1950´s Style
don’t they look rather dashing standing in front of this beautiful old train?
PS: The Lady’s Dress is from the Vivien of Holloway Range a brand I adore although I haven’t purchased a dress from her collection yet, its on my wish list.

We had such a lovely time and cant wait to visit again! All the staff and volunteers in the centre made Finns day extra special with little but such caring gestures like showing him a miniature steam train, asking him if he enjoyed the ride, waving from the big steam train and more.

We already marked the 30th June in our Calendar because that’s the weekend a very special (blue) engine will be visiting the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. This is certainly a Family Day out not to be missed if you have a little Thomas Mad Fan at home! You can buy your tickets online or at the Centre on the day!

If you want to know more about the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre and what is on the agenda over the Summer go and like them on Facebook or check out their website for more details here.
Disclaimer: This is not a review i have not been asked to write about the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre but i wanted to share what this great place has to offer for little and big train fans!

I *think* that's where my friend has moved near. Looks a fab day out – may check with her if it is as my boys would really enjoy that.
