Ready or not?

Family Life Finn

Finnster is now 2 years and 8 month old so naturally I get the question from fellow mums and friends
“Is he potty trained yet?”.
With Finn growing up in a bilingual household
(I am talking German to him and daddy English)
he started talking later then most other children his age, so communication regarding his needs wasn’t that easy for him. When he turned 2 I started putting a potty into our bathroom so that he can check it out and maybe sit on it before bath time. It didn’t take long then the potty was kicked around and mostly laded outside the bathroom and one day it magically disappeared out of there and i found it with one of Finns footballs inside it on the bottom of his bed.
It only retired from that roll once his best mate Josh started getting potty trained and he used it.
Finn decided to copy Josh sitting on “Josh´s Potty” when he came for play dates but only for a second and never without his nappy.
Reintroducing it to the bathroom didn’t work out that well at all, so back to “ball holder” it was.
But this week after bath time at work I didn’t put the nappy back on quick enough and the result splashed on the bath mat so i put him onto the toilet with a training seat and he done it with no hesitating. In the evening before bed time he used his potty and got again loads of encouraging from me and a treat as a reward.
The next day all the encouraging on trying the toilet or potty was dismissed by Finn and we are back at square one.
Well now I am debating to just leave him to it till its warmer and then try the “running around naked all day” method.
I also got some potty books a while ago so there will be included with his bedtime story.

I would love to hear some advice from you regarding what worked best for your children when you potty trained them?

And of course any great “must have” potty training products you could recommend (especially for boys) in regards to potty´s, toilet training seats and some steps? There is so much on the market right now its hard to choose from!
