Now this might not be your usual Happy New Year post but I somehow did not post it last year so better later than never, here is what we have been up to in October half term! So we had another half term packed with 10 days full of fun, laughter, cuddles, catching up and plenty of lay ins for Mummy too! We where lucky enough to have an extra day due to Finns school having an Inset day before HT started.
Although our holiday didn’t get off as well as hoped when we somehow manage to muddle up times/left the house too late/couldn’t find a parking space and ended up arriving at a closed check in counter 1 minute (oh yeah!!!) too late! But my pleading and tears to get me and my 2 kids on the plane to Munich did help and our bags where swiftly checked in and we rushed to the gate only to realise they haven’t even started boarding yet (thankfully that meant I could get the kids a drink and a little treat – due to my rather stressed out nerves I thought I bribe them today!) The flight itself although packed to the last seat went well but when we arrived at the airport and after collection our bags we weren’t greeted by the usually very ecstatic Oma&Opa….nope…nobody was there so I called my dad’s phone and told my mum who answered that we are here now. “Where?” she asked. “At the Airport Mum we are at the Airport in Munich” I said already close to tears hoping this isn’t true!! “I thought you are arriving on Saturday?” she answered. You can images how I felt….but she swiftly said “Just kidding we are just walking in”. Little did she know about my disastrous journey and how much I couldn’t get the joke… But all was quickly forgotten when the kids ran towards my parents cuddling and kissing them and beaming with joy to see them again!
The following days were filled with plenty of walks around the forests, taking Balou (their Aunty Nadine’s Dog) for walks, meeting the newest addition in our extended family that is Baby Finn, playing footy with Opa and scooting around the block as well as collecting mushrooms (and cooking them) apples and the biggest conkers we have ever seen!!
We also had a few rainy days in between that so Finn who did some Junk Modelling at Beavers a week before we where heading to Oma&Opa’s decided he wanted to make a spaceship so with that info in had and a few pictures from the latest Lego magazine I got to work and somehow manage to create something rather X-Wing like (even Mr. C. was pretty impressed) with Finnster help we even covered it in black/greyish painted paper and some orange coloured paper. And afterwards I had one very happy boy playing with it all day long!
As a belated birthday treat my parents took Finnster (and Molly-May of course) to the newly opened Dinosaur Park in Denkendorf which is close where we had our wedding! (About 1hr away from Munich) It’s a massive area surrounded by forest and plenty of trees with 2 large playgrounds within and about 60 massive dinosaurs to check out. The kids and my parents spend over 2.5 hours exploring and had a great time:
When we go back to Germany a visit (or a few) is always on the cards to go and see my beloved Cousin who is also Molly-May’s Godmum. They both enjoyed doing puzzles and MM even helped out with the cooking!
Whilst the kids enjoyed their time with Oma & Opa I enjoyed some “me” time and manage to visit a shopping centre for a whole 5 hours in full on “shop till you Drop” style! Afterall I had an excuse for new clothes with a school reunion and my cousins 30th birthday celebrations coming up. I didn’t think I would enjoy going to my school reunion after all my school years in secondary school weren’t exactly happy memories most of the time but you know what, people change (especially after 17 years haha) and I had a great laugh and apparently my loud voice defiantly hasn’t changed at all!! On the same night I joined my equally loud cousins for a birthday party until the early hours followed by a lovely reunion of all of her family the next day over some yummy lunch. And that’s how quickly the week came to an end again and it was time to head home to daddy!
But we are already looking forward to returning in February to celebrate Molly-May’s 3rd birthday as well as my 33rd and my dad’s 60th & his upcoming retirement from the police force! That will be one hell of a fantastic party week for everybody!
